Cavalry Shuts-out Spiders

The Las Vegas Cavalry defeated Utah Spiders 11-0 in their home opener at City National Arena in Las Vegas.

Daniel Chang, Ryan Rinko, and John Albanese scored two goals each to lead the Cavalry. Goalie Mike Katz earned the shut-out.

The Cavalry scored five first period goals starting with Zach Smith at 19:18. Rinko, Chang, Brawnson Holtkamp, and Albanese followed. Six more Cavalry goals were scored in the second period with Kody Holmes, Justin Battaglia, Cody Milligan, Rinko, Chang, and Albanese finding the net.

The third period was scoreless with Las Vegas holding the Spiders at a distance to ensure the shut-out for Katz. The Las Vegas goalie was making his return to the MWHL after an absence of three years. Katz along with teammates Todd Brautigam, Justin Rowe, and Jack Kim were members of Las Vegas’ original entry in the league in 2012.
